Learn Why Using Multiple Streams of Income for Your Internet Based Business Make Good Sense

Have you ever heard the saying "Don't put all your eggs into one basket"? Robert Allen wrote a book a few years ago in which he discussed the importance of having multiple streams of income if you wish to become wealthy.

If you think about it logically it makes sense to have more than one income stream for the simple reason that if you only have one source and it dries up, then you will have nothing, whereas with multiple streams if one dries up there are still others from which you can continue to earn money.

No matter how stable a program or business may seem, in today's economical climate even businesses that seemed rock solid are crashing, so having something to fall back on makes good sense.

One of the best ways to earn money today with multiple streams of income is by having an internet based business. This is the perfect vehicle to help you build a business with very low capital outlay.

Think about this. If you were an affiliate internet marketer and relied solely on one company that were sending you checks every month just as an example let's use Clickbank. What would happen to you if Clickbank suddenly went out of business? I am not saying they will this is merely an example! This would be a disaster for thousands of internet based business owners who rely on them for regular income.

A wise man once said it is better to make $100 per month from 100 different affiliate programs than $10000 a month from one. In today's economic climate this couldn't be truer.

When you think about it, the opportunities for starting an internet based business today are fantastic. By representing different products or joining several different programs in the same niche you can make an income by getting paid by multiple companies and if one company closes you will still be earning from the others.

Today a website or blog can be set up very easily and in a very short space of time and once your website is set up then it is a matter of driving traffic to it and this is also not difficult to do, although it does take some work. When you learn the skill required to set up multiple streams of income you will realize what a great way it is to secure your income.

Another way to create multiple streams of income is by doing a joint venture with other internet marketers. By combining your talents you will be able to do the work that you most enjoy and can work with people whose talents are different from your own.

I hope that this article has inspired you to consider adding multiple streams to the internet business that you already have and think of it as an insurance policy for securing your future.

How To Use A Blog To Drive Traffic To A Website

When you blog about a certain topic (say it's affiliate marketing or weight loss or ringtones...it's limitless) and you blog about it for a while, you start to get noticed! Google, MSN, and Yahoo spiders collect a bunch of data about what your topic is on your specific blog, and blog pages.

So your blog is "known" by the search engines.

Along comes someone who types in Affiliate Marketing into the search box.

The serp's (Search Engine Page Results) come back with your blog as one of the results! Done right the serp is a link to the best page or post around those keywords.

That's what we call "Organic" results.  It is the BEST form of advertising for two reasons.

One...it's free!  The price is right! The Google results on the right side of the serp page are the sponsored ads that are aimed at whatever keyword you typed in.

Two...If you have a blog (or website) about affiliate marketing and you have some affiliate marketing offers on it, the person who typed in "affiliate marketing" and was guided to your site by the search engines is probably (maybe) interested in what you have to say...and...interested in what you have to offer.

That person is known as "targeted traffic" (the best traffic - the most likely to buy).

I lived next door to the man who sold the most tires, of all the tire dealers, in the United States. We talked.

He told me that the people who read his ads are the people with bald tires. The rest of the population barely sees the ad, let alone buys tires.

I got to tell you that this conversation was before computers on desktops. But he knew. There's always somebody with bald tires! And you can sell them new ones. But, probably NOT if they don't have bald tires!

Now, the keywords you use for an article or a post on a blog are a HUGE discussion which I'll go into depth on at another time but here's the "gist" of it.  Broad match keywords would be keywords like "Internet Marketing".

If you target broad keywords you'll have too much competition AND you really don't want that keyword anyway because it will bring you "unfocused traffic".  Not sorted to suit you. Not "targeted traffic"

A person who types in "Internet Marketing" could be looking for ways to earn money...any old way because he's just starting to look OR they are interested in web page authoring, pay per click traffic generation, blogging, affiliate marketing, or any of a number of things under the "umbrella" of Internet Marketing.

So... you want to "sort your traffic" into streams of traffic that are more likely to buy what you have than, say, a person who typed in "Internet Marketing".

Here is the essence of direct sales online (Internet Marketing)...many names actually...like Search Engine Marketing.

The essence of direct sales online...TRAFFIC + CONVERSION
(SALES) = MONEY

No traffic - no conversion (sales) = no money.  That's an easy formula to understand and it took me a HALF YEAR to work it out. I may be a little "thick".

In order to sell something on the internet you need a good offer to a good market and you have to generate traffic from that market to the offer! Not just any old traffic. Targeted traffic. The kind that's likely to want what you have to offer!

So, how is a blog considered to be advertising?" Remember this in Algebra? If a=b and b=c then a=c! Get it? Basic math.

Advertising generates traffic - Blogs generate traffic - Blogs equal advertising!

People were trying to tell me this a few years back and I couldn't hear them clearly.

I was in a dazzled state. I was interested in everything related to Internet Marketing. I still am. Except maybe keyword research. That bores me. I prefer to "borrow" my keyword research...which is another topic for another day and it's a biggie.

When I settled into this long term affair with a blog was when I started making money, and I'll tell you why.

When I write my posts I write them to cover a few keywords well just as you do with article marketing. Now that my blog has been around for a while Google serves up my posts when someone searches for my keyword.

Another plus to Blog/Website marketing is this...in every post...I put links to offers I have. Those offers are hosted at another domain of mine and I post them in standard HTML web page format.

Think about this. Everyone of my posts has links to offers that I am an affiliate for.. My blog also has "feature pages" that create sales. Add to that my autoresponder that sends out 2 emails a week to my subscribers with links to offers in them and it all starts to add up to a business online!

I have realized this simple fact...Drive the "right traffic to the right offer" and you'll have the "right sales!"

Pick a way - give it your best - stick with it. Now... a caveat...pick carefully.

Blogging for Beginners: How to create a Popular Blog

Blogging has very quickly become an online activity that people all over the world are turning to for information, ideas or to promote an online business. Blogs have been popular for years, but are really "hot" right now. To borrow a term from the fashion industry, blogs can be considered "on-trend"!

Online blogs, or "weblogs", were originally used as journals or online diaries by people just wishing to share their lives with friends, family, and other likeminded and interested readers. However, blogs have since taken on a more serious business dimension and are used by all successful internet marketers as an essential marketing tool. Regular bloggers have become an influential online presence, as more and more people are turning to blogs, not just for information, but for recommendations and reviews.

It is not difficult to start a blog, but if you eventually want to make money from blogging, then you must make sure that the blog you set up has the potential to be popular. That will be the key to your success. To properly monetize your blog and make money from it, you will need a large and growing readership, and this should be your aim at all times.

So, how to make sure your blog will be popular? The first thing you must think about is your target audience, your readers. Who are you writing for? Do some research to make sure that your niche is not too vague, and has the potential to attract a large enough readership. Remember you do not have to be a professional or highly skilled writer to create a popular blog. Obviously, you are expected to obey common grammatical rules and be able to put readable sentences together, but you are not there to write the next War and Peace! Blog readers are looking for interesting, informative or amusing topics to read, and quickly get bored with long paragraphs of dull writing. Popular blogs are never boring and manage to add something to reader's lives and keep them entertained AND informed. This is a sure way of developing a large base of loyal readers, who will stick with you, and provide valuable feedback through their comments and suggestions.

Whether you have set up a free blog on a blogging network like Blogger, or are having your blog independently hosted on something like Wordpress, make sure it is well designed, and keep funky detail and colours to a minimum. Remember, the content of your blog is all important, and it must be clear and easy to read.

Driving traffic to your blog is exactly like driving traffic to a website and you can employ some of the same techniques. You can spend days setting up the most magnificent blog ever, but unless you get the word out about it, you will be the only one reading it!

Start with article marketing, one of the tried and tested ways of driving traffic to a website or blog. Don't overlook social networking sites such as Myspace, Facebook and YouTube as they provide valuable opportunities for adding links to your blog. There are also many social book marking sites like Digg and Faves, where you can promote your blog for free.

You should make every effort to get your blog indexed with the major search engines. If yours is a business blog and you want to properly monetize it, then having a good ranking with the search engines will be a major factor in your success. It will ensure a steady flow of visitors to read your articles and reviews, and to click on your affiliate links.

The higher your rank with the search engines, the more visitors you will receive, and the more popular your blog will become.
